About the Teachers
Wayne Van Eyk is an accomplished and versatile artist with a passion for the creative arts across several disciplines. His primary mediums of artistic expression are drawing, painting and woodwork, and enjoys developing his traditional and contemporary styles. His artwork is known for its enjoyment of the aesthetics and a considered sense of design.
In addition to his personal art practice, he is also dedicated to sharing his knowledge and skills with others. Wayne has been teaching life drawing for over 10 years, an activity that has helped develop many methods for drawing and understanding the fundamentals of capturing the human form.
As an artist who combines the realms of drawing, painting, teaching, and woodworking, he offers a multifaceted approach to creativity and craftsmanship.
~
Practicing artist and art educator Isabella Allis runs regular adult art classes at Chrome Street Studios. She tailors her art instruction around each individual student, considering their chosen pathway in art and helping to develop their unique artistic voice. Isabella strongly believes in the benefit of having a strong technical foundation in art, developing skills through practice and observation, and then being able to apply these skills in any chosen way.
Although Isabella specialises in oil painting and charcoal/ graphite drawing, she draws on her knowledge of a broad array of mediums to guide students working in the medium of their choice. The weekly classes bring together a small art community where art students can socialise with like-minded people, share ideas and resources and paint or draw in a social setting, whilst receiving instruction and mentoring from Isabella.
Isabella also runs specialised art workshops (e.g. portraiture). She has also provided grant-funded private mentoring, private tuition and high school workshops/ vocational talks.
The Loomis Method
Developed by Andrew Loomis, the method simplifies the structure of the head into basic shapes and measurements to accurately depict it.
Wayne Van Eyk will teach you the specific techniques for drawing a human head with accuracy.
Loose Charcoal Portraiture
Isabella Allis will show you techniques for expressive portraits based on the foundational structure of Wayne’s teachings.
